Playing with Numbers

I know this probably sounds sad, but I do love statistics, maths and playing with numbers! I am certainly not a geek, and it is probably due to my engineering background but I get quite a thrill having the challenge of working with numbers. I have spent many an hour throughout my career as a computer engineer staring at screens full of ones and noughts, mesmerised by the communications between two computers.

So to celebrate the 50th, yes FIFTY! Crafts now listed in the craftsforcharity directory, I thought I would give you some percentages! Please don't EXIT). By the way....we have now raised over £200 for charity!

Equations
So, here are the percentages, out of the first 50 crafts to list in the directory:

54% are websites
26% are Folksy shops
8% are Misi shops
6% are blogs
4% are Etsy shops
2% are Dreamaid shops

Don't forget everyone, that if you have more than one website, shop or blog, that you can list them all! So to welcome the latest crafters who have listed since my last blog, a Huge Thank you goes to:

The first thank you goes to The Little Bead Box and their folksy shop selling beautiful beads of all shapes, sizes and colours.

The second thank you goes to Clairez Cardz and their website selling lovely handmade cards and paper-crafted gifts for all occasions.

The third thank you goes to HarveyCraftycards who makes beautiful and unique styles of handmade wedding stationery.

The fourth thank you goes to WhichCraft and their folksy shop selling stunning jewellery made from Swarovski crystal and semi precious gemstones.

The fifth thank you goes to Bodrighy Wood and his handcrafted wood turning. Unique items and commissions are available from his folksy shop.

The sixth thank you goes to Kokokelli and their folksy shop selling beautiful handmade costume jewellery and greetings cards.

The seventh thank you goes to Claire Ogden Designs and their unique and individual handmade jewellery 'once seen never forgotten'.

The eighth thank you goes to The Cloth Seller who specialises in providing organic and fair-trade fabric for sewing crafts.

Many thanks again to everyone for all your help in promoting this crafts directory!

A few Questions Answered

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the lovely sunshine! Personally I don't like the heat and even bought myself a Paddling Pool yesterday, well it was for the kids but I seem to be using it just as much as them :)

I have had a few questions this week regarding the crafts directory so thought I should repeat them here as well, so here goes:

Question
Question 1: Would I pay via Paypal?

The JustGiving website gives you the option of paying either via Paypal or directly from your Credit/Debit card. It is totally secure and any money paid goes
directly to the charity of your choice.

Question 2: Do you accept craft materials and suppliers on your directory?

Yes as long as the site is arts & crafts related it will be accepted within the directory. This last week I even included a listing for another crafts directory.

Question 3: Can I list more than one shop/website/blog in the directory?

Yes, you can have multiple listings in the directory however title and description fields should be made unique for each listing. Each listing must also be accompanied by a separate donation to charity.

We have had a few more people join the directory this week and it is lovely to see that it is attracting some wonderful crafters. So to welcome the newest additions since I last blogged, I would like to say a HUGE thanks you to:

The first thank you goes to Just Soaps and Body Care and their second listing in the directory, this time for their hands-on soap making courses.

The second thank you goes to BaggieAggie for their two listings in the directory. For their Gorgeous Handcrafted Bags & Purses, and also for BaggieAggietoo and their Fabulous Handcrafted Accessories.

The third thank you goes to Silent Theatre and her Folksy shop selling Original Artwork prints, keepsakes and cards...so good I even bought one!

Many thanks again for all your continued hard work in promoting the directory!

Many More Thank You's

I seem to be writing these Thank you blogs all the time, which is a really really good thing as it means the directory continues to be busy with new listings. I just love reading through the websites, online craft shops and blogs that get listed and have come across some fantastic crafters that I may not have seen if it wasn't for this.

No new categories or charities have been listed this week but we have now raised £185 + £31 gift aid....WOW! There are still plenty of categories (e.g. knitting!) that have yet to have any entries so it would be good to get them started soon. I have also been playing with the 'search' facility and it is fabulous. Have a go, try typing something like 'personalised' into the search field and see what happens, I love it (little things please...and all that!).

Crafts Directory - Thankyou
So to welcome the new additions to the directory since I last blogged, I would like to say a BIG Thank you to the following (takes a deep breath):

The first thank you goes to Hearts and Homespun and their Handmade soaps and body care products.

The second thank you goes to Prem2Pram who specialise in Handmade premature baby clothes and accessories.

The third thank you goes to Itsamistry Design Studio and her Handcrafted custom designed jewellery.

The fourth thank you goes to the Red Ted Art a craft idea and resource blog for young and old.

The fifth thank you goes to The Sewing Directory an online directory of UK sewing businesses.

The sixth Thank you goes to Suffolk Sewing School who offer one to one tuition for all aspects of sewing.

CraftsforCharity on Twitter

It has been a busy week for my CraftsforCharity directory with lots of new craft listings, requests for new charities and even the addition of a craft category to the directory. Most of this has been the result of our new Twitter account which you can find here: CraftsforCharity on Twitter. I have found it lovely to meet lots of new crafters in the world of Twitter and would welcome new followers to Tweet with!

Crafts Directory Update

Just a quick update on the status of our crafts directory and a big 'Thank you' to our recent listings. It has been three weeks since the launch of the directory and things are going fantastically well! So far we have 27 crafters listed in the directory and have so far raised £128 for the nominated charities + £19.46 gift aid. The donations are nicely spread across all the charities, which is also a very good sign. I have also today added a new charity to the list, 'Cats Protection' as requested by a fellow crafter on Twitter.

I was also asked today if one person can list more than one shop...the answer is YES! You can list your website, blog, plus any shops like etsy or folksy as separate listings (as long as you make separate donations to charities). Please also try to make the listing descriptions and titles different for each entry and that will enable each listing to rank better in search engines.

Candy
The following craft sites have listed their details in the directory since I last blogged so a huge welcome and Thank you to them!

The first Thank you goes to Expressorize Ure Self and their Misi shop containing handmade quality jewellery & accessories.

The second Thank you goes to Pixie Posy Tiaras and their Misi shop containing handmade bridal and special occasion accessories.

The third Thank you goes to Satoko's Origami Jewellery and their handmade jewellery inspired by the Japanese art of Origami.

The fourth Thank you goes to Blue Fish Handmade and their Folksy shop containing beautiful crochet jewellery and accessories.

The fifth Thank you goes to Mmmm Bath Melts and their Folksy shop provide luxurious, handmade bath melts, all using natural ingredients.

The sixth Thank you goes to Cholcolat A Toi and their personalised chocolate bars, for weddings, a new baby, or a special occasion.

The seventh Thank you goes to Nithria and their land of handmade craft that provide a range of jewellery and cards for all occasions.

Wow! I have finally managed to catch up with all the Thank you's. Many thanks to everyone who is promoting the website and I look forward to welcoming many more crafters next week!
